Street Team
Do you want to help an author out?
I'm looking for some people who genuinely like my books and who have the time and the spoons to commit to posting about my book on social media once a week–perhaps more during launches. I can provide you with graphics I made, or you can do your own. Whichever.
(Also, it would be awesome if you would boost and engage with each other's posts.)
How is this different from your ARC Team?
If my ARC Team wants to post about my book on social media, I welcome that! But they're only really engaged to review my book, and there are different rules involved for that. For example, Amazon's terms of service says that I can't incentivize reviews in any way.
I plan to give the Street Team not only free digital copies of my books (so they know what they're promoting and can answer questions) but also plan regular giveaways of other goodies… so it's best to keep these two groups separate. That doesn't mean you have to pick one or the other, but let's keep reviewing and promoting separate to keep Amazon happy!
What's in it for me?
Free books, Amazon gift card raffles, and similar stuff. Also Zoom calls with me, and my gratitude.
So you're not paying me?
Nope. Sorry.
Okay, what's involved?
You would join my author Slack and communicate with me there. I would provide you with a dropbox full of graphics I've made and also some marketing text–although it's probably better if you make it sound like you, you know? Also it would help if you could like, repost, comment on each other's posts. There will be a channel where you can share links to stuff you posted.
I'll have more instructions when it's time for launches, etc.
Are there any rules?
If you engage in drama on my behalf it reflects poorly on me, so please don't do that. Just block the person and move on. I guess if they're actively threatening to come to my house and kill me you should… tell me so I can call the police? report the post as an active threat? but otherwise, just let people be wrong on the Internet. (Please do not engage with someone being actively threatening yourself!!!)
Other things to avoid involve insulting other authors. Please don't. Stay positive!
Also, please be kind to each other, on the Slack and out in the world. We're not about being mean.
